Hi! I’m Destiny Lauritsen, a freelance illustrator and graphic designer specializing in children’s fantasy themes (you may have noticed I like fairies). My business has been operating in one form or another since 2006 and I’ve been blessed with some very fun client projects along the way, including logos and branding, website design, illustrated book covers, board game assets, video game concept art, paperdoll spreads for magazines, and even some teensy-tiny graphics for a custom jewelry company.
But my favorite products to design are coloring books! I was obsessed with coloring books when I was little and still have them all on a shelf in my studio– and the pages are absolutely pristine, not a crayon mark in sight. See, instead of coloring the images, I liked to study the lineart and eventually learned how to ink my own illustrations, which I then gave to friends who were more skilled at coloring than I was. In fact, I didn’t learn how to color until my 20s (and only then with a handy ‘undo’ button). Now I make a living creating coloring books and coloring page collections. It’s funny how the things that inspire us as children can come back full-circle into our lives as adults!
When not at work in the studio, I like to stay busy with vegetable gardening, crocheting sweaters, sewing ragdolls and dresses, hiking up mountains, and studying scripture. I’m also a fan of fairytales and cozy mysteries and am (very slowly) working on a mystery novel of my own.
